PAREA, derived from the Greek word for a group united for a common cause, was founded by Dr. Daniel M. Alonzo, an ENT specialist who has been dedicated to patient care since 1993. What started as his passion for head and neck surgery has evolved into a collaborative community of experts—within ENT and beyond—working together to provide the most comprehensive care possible. From diagnosis to treatment, including thyroid disease treatment and lifelong follow-up, our commitment is straightforward: every patient deserves the right specialist, the right treatment, and the right care at the right time.

PAREA was born out of one doctor’s lifelong dedication to patients. Dr. Daniel M. Alonzo, an ENT specialist who has cared for thousands of Filipinos since 1993, began his practice treating the full spectrum of ear, nose, throat, and pediatric conditions. Over the years, he built the trust of a substantial number of patients in otology, rhinology, pediatric ENT, and many other subspecialties under the field of Otorhinolaryngology. However, if there is one area that has always been his special passion—his “obsession,” as he humbly admits—it is head and neck surgery, particularly the management of tumors, both benign and malignant, many of which involve thyroid disease treatment and the thyroid and parathyroid glands. As medicine advanced, Dr. Alonzo recognized an important truth: in the modern era, no single doctor can keep up with every new technique, technology, and subspecialty. Patients deserve the very best care, and that requires more than one pair of skilled hands; it requires collaboration. This realization gave rise to PAREA—a Greek word that means a group of people who have bonded together for a common cause. True to its name, PAREA is a community of specialists, including ENT specialists, working together to ensure that each patient is cared for by the doctor best equipped for their condition. Within ENT, that means bringing together ear specialists, nose and sinus experts, audiologists, ENT plastic surgeons, and many others. But collaboration at PAREA goes beyond ENT. When needed, endocrinologists, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, speech therapists, nutritionists, and other professionals become part of the patient’s care team. This ensures that from the very first consultation to treatment, recovery, and long-term follow-up, each patient receives comprehensive care throughout the entire journey of their disease.
